International networking is a key success factor for variety development in South Tyrol.
One key example is the International Pome Fruit Alliance (IPA), in which VOG and VI.P play an active role as founding members. The IPA connects leading apple-growing regions worldwide and enables a structured transfer of knowledge across the entire value chain – from breeding through to market launch.
These networks promote:
- structured exchange with breeders and rights holders worldwide,
- practical variety trials across the entire value chain,
- joint strategies for variety launch and brand development,
- the sustainable safeguarding of competitiveness in the global market.
With a combined annual production of around 1 million tonnes of fresh fruit and a strong position in research, cultivation and marketing, VOG and VI.P – now part of alpoma – are a high-performing and reliable partner for international variety projects.
